Gabriel Zúñiga, director of studies of TBS Education – Barcelona, has recently explained to us about digital technologies regarding higher education, which has several advantages, drawbacks, and uncertainty regarding the future of education.
Ever since the pandemic in 2020, digital technology has been vital for education to keep thriving without interruptions. However, there is still a lack when it comes to accessing and understanding the tools that digital technology offers; for instance, many professors had to get trained to use certain technologies or specific tools, which is not only an effort for professionals but also implies changing to a “digital mindset.”
Zúñiga points out one of the main drawbacks of digital technologies: the availability of information. He explains that it is essential for students to train themselves to keep concepts and formulas to modulate thinking and go through it as an easy process to reach critical thinking, especially when it comes to distinguishing reliable information from irrelevant or fake information.
